HEALTHY RECIPE // SALTED CARAMEL TAHINI SLICES // VEGAN DESSERT

Recipe:
Oat Base –
1 cup rolled oats
Pinch of salt
1 cup pitted soft dates
Hot Water

Tahini caramel –
1 cup pitted soft dates
1/4 cup hot water
2 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp coconut oil
fine sea salt, to taste

Chocolate layer –
6 tbsp raw cacao
4-6 tbsp agave
1 cup melted coconut oil

STEP 1
Pre-soak all of the dates in warm water for around 15 minutes to soften them ready for the blender

STEP 2
Blend the oats in a food processor until coarsely ground. Add in the dates and a little pinch of salt, pulsing again until well mixed. If the mix is looking a little dry, add in a few drops of hot water and process until the mixture comes together. Press into an 18x27cm baking paper lined container and pop into the freezer for around 15 minutes

STEP 3
For the tahini caramel layer, drain the dates and add all the ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth. Add a small amount of water to get the ‘caramel’ consistency. It should still be thick and not too runny or it won’t set. Add salt to taste and then remove the oat layer from the freezer and spread the caramel layer on top. Return back to the freezer whilst you make your chocolate layer.

STEP 3
Melt the coconut oil over a low heat. Add in all of the chocolate layer ingredients, including the oil into the food processor and blend. Add more sweetner to your own taste. Then pour over your previous two layers
